Bill’s is striving to provide you with the best protection possible from subterranean termite attacks. A key part of this protection is knowledge. The more you know about subterranean termites and the treatment process the better prepared you will be to protect your home.
Protecting Your Home
Despite our "dry climate," the desert is highly populated with subterranean termites. Protecting your home is achievable by having annual inspections by a licensed pest control technician and eliminating or limiting conditions conducive to infestations.

In most cases, we can provide a service contract, which includes a structural damage clause providing for repair of subterranean termite damage.

Desert Subs
The Sonoran Desert is home to the subterranean termite species Heterotermes Aureus. Also known as desert subs, these termites have the ability to survive in drier conditions than other species. Their size and ability to forage in dry conditions allows them to live where other termite species cannot.
Desert Subs utilize shelter tubes to move from below ground to food sources. These shelter tubes protect them from natural enemies (ants) as well as environmental conditions, which will cause them to dehydrate. These shelter tubes are constructed by the worker termites from soil or other available material that they are tunneling through.
Control of Desert Subs can be achieved by applying a liquid barrier to the soil under and around the structure. A second treatment method is the use of baiting systems. Experience suggests that baiting for Desert Subs requires more time to be effective. New liquid products now act like baits and can control infestations quicker by sharing the termiticide with other termites in the colony through natural feeding and grooming behavior.
Service Contracts
A service contract does not guarantee subterranean termites will not attack a structure. A service contract is much like and insurance policy, which is used if an infestation occurs. Some contracts cover retreatment expenses only, while others provide for retreatment and structural damage repair cost. When purchasing a termite service contract a close examination of the contract should be made to determine the types of coverage provided and any special conditions or terms. An additional consideration is the reputation of the company providing the service contract.
