Termites are a fact of life in the desert areas of Southern Arizona. Protecting your home effectively starts with choosing a system that eliminates the entire colony. At Bill’s Home Service, we’ve been treating termites for more than 60 years and we know the best ways to protect your home from these destructive pests. One of the most effective treatments is The Sentricon® System with Always Active™ technology.
Sentricon uses small stations placed in the soil around your home. Termites discover them through their constant, routine foraging for food.
Inside each station is a bait that termites feed on and carry back to share with the rest of the colony. The active ingredient, noviflumuron, disrupts the termites’ molting process. The gradual effect of the bait allows the active ingredient to spread completely throughout the colony, eventually eliminating the queen.
Your Bill’s Home Service state-licensed Certified Sentricon Specialist starts with a thorough inspection that allows us to understand your specific property and identify any high-risk areas for termites. We then determine how many station locations you need based on your layout, current conditions, moisture levels, and any history of termite activity.
Next, we place the stations around the perimeter of your home to intercept any termites that are foraging. The entire process causes minimal disruption to your property.
Sentricon starts working as soon as termites begin feeding in a station. How fast termites find a station depends on the number of termites present in your area, but if termites are around, they will find the stations.
Sentricon stations are serviced once per year. If we spot active feeding inside your home, we can still utilize tradition liquid termite control products to address the immediate concern.
Sentricon’s targeted treatment eliminates colonies using a highly specific bait that provides proactive protection 24/7 all year long. This is a big change from the now outdated widespread pesticide applications in the soil around structures. The EPA has registered Sentricon as a reduced-risk pesticide, citing reduced hazardous material use and lower potential impacts on health and the environment.
At our customer’s home in the Tucson foothills, termites repeatedly attacked an interior wall. Traditional liquid treatments stopped the activity for a short time, but the termites would quickly return. The construction of the home limited where we could get the liquid, making it impossible to eliminate the entire infestation.
We installed the Sentricon® System, and within a couple of months, the colony was gone. We’ve seen activity in some stations since then, but no further activity inside the house.
Does Sentricon attract termites to my house?
No. Termites locate the stations during their routine foraging for food.
Is it safe around kids and pets?
Yes, the active ingredient targets insect molting, not people or pets. Plus, the stations are placed securely in the ground with only a service cover visible, and they require a special key to open.
What if my dog gets into a station?
The amount of active ingredient is so small that a dog would need to ingest some 200 bait inserts before showing any signs of illness.
Can I plant a garden near the stations?
The active ingredient is not taken up by plants, so your garden will not be affected.
Do I need another termite product with Sentricon?
No, notypically, but the best part of Sentricon is that it can be used in conjunction with traditional liquid termite products
